OVERVIEW

Physics, as a natural science, is dedicated to the study of matter and interactions in the universe, both at the atomic-molecular and macroscopic levels. It analyzes not only the dynamic behavior of matter under the action of fundamental forces but also its origin, providing theoretical or applied solutions to scientific and technological problems.

ESPOL has a Physics Department established more than 11 years ago. Aware of the need to strengthen human talent in the field of physics and to promote scientific research on the Ecuadorian coast, it offers a Master's program in Physics.

This program promotes specialized professionals with a solid knowledge of fundamental physics, enabling them to independently conduct research activities to solve scientific or technological problems. Another objective of the program is to disseminate basic science research at the coastal level by establishing working relationships with the institution. Finally, the program also guarantees that its graduates will be able to pursue doctoral studies in the field.

APPLICANT PROFILE

The program is aimed at professionals with undergraduate degrees, preferably in physics, mathematics, engineering, and related fields. They should demonstrate an aptitude for working in multidisciplinary teams, a passion for lifelong learning, and an interest in obtaining a solid foundation in physics. Applicants with other degrees may be admitted after evaluation by the academic committee.

GRADUATE PROFILE

Graduates of this program should have developed skills in the scientific method in the physical sciences that allow them to pose problems using physical-mathematical models and solve them using theoretical or numerical models or experimental techniques. They will have a solid foundation in the fundamental subjects of physics and must also have gained basic experience in a scientific research topic through the development of their thesis project, enabling them to carry out guided projects and launch their research career.

Curriculum

  • For Ecuadorian applicants, an updated ID card. For foreign applicants, a valid ID or passport issued by their country of residence.

  • For applicants who obtained their third-level degree in Ecuador, it must be properly registered with SENESCYT. For applicants who obtained their third-level degree abroad, it must be properly registered with SENESCYT (https://siau.senescyt.gob.ec) or have a certified or legalized copy with consular approval.
  • Copy of the academic or professional record of the last degree obtained.
  • Curriculum vitae.
