OVERVIEW

The Master’s Degree in Sustainable Agribusiness at ESPAE, escuela de negocios, prepares professionals to lead agricultural and agribusiness organizations through a strategic, innovative, and sustainable approach. Over 18 months, the program develops the competencies needed to manage agribusinesses, lead agri-food value chains, make informed decisions using business intelligence, and enhance competitiveness through sustainability and the circular economy.

Its practical approach, collaborative learning, and HyFlex format enable participants to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges in the sector. In addition, the program offers the opportunity to earn the ZEED certification from Zamorano Everlasting Education and, optionally, participate in a one-week in-person experience at Zamorano in Honduras. It also offers an international experience with EADA Business School in Spain.

APPLICANT PROFILE

The Master’s Degree in Sustainable Agribusiness is designed for professionals and entrepreneurs in the agricultural and agribusiness sectors who aspire to lead competitive, sustainable organizations committed to the country’s development.

Applicants must hold a recognized undergraduate degree in Ecuador, preferably in Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine, Food Engineering, Aquaculture, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields. Candidates are also required to have at least two years of experience in the agricultural or agribusiness sector.

The program brings together professionals who seek to strengthen their strategic perspective, develop managerial and leadership capabilities, and drive innovation, sustainability, and business growth across the agri-food value chain.

Graduates of the Master’s Degree in Sustainable Agribusiness are strategic leaders capable of managing agricultural and agribusiness organizations, leading agri-food value chains, and driving sustainable growth in a dynamic and competitive environment.

Curriculum

  • For Ecuadorian applicants, an updated ID card. For foreign applicants, a valid ID or passport issued by their country of residence.
  • For Ecuadorian applicants, an updated voter registration certificate.
  • For applicants who obtained their third-level degree in Ecuador, it must be properly registered with SENESCYT. For applicants who obtained their third-level degree abroad, it must be properly registered with SENESCYT (https://siau.senescyt.gob.ec) or have a certified or legalized copy with consular approval.

  • Take a standardized aptitude test with an english component.

  • Apply analytical models and principles to interpret key indicators, thereby generating useful information for decision-making in the agribusiness sector.
  • Formulate agribusiness solutions based on the evaluation of opportunities and their potential to generate economic, social, and environmental value.
  • Develop internationalization strategies considering the implications of cultural dimensions in target markets.
  • Integrate effective communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills to solve complex problems in work teams.
  • Analyze different production system models based on their alignment with the organizational strategy and their compliance with international quality and sustainability criteria, to select those that contribute to the creation of sustainable value.
  • Evaluate the risks and the socioeconomic, political, and cultural context of international markets to determine their attractiveness and viability as destinations for internationalization.
  • Design sustainable business practices by considering the efficient management of resources and stakeholders, and the minimization of environmental impact, to generate social and economic value.
